2000 Iveco Daily Immobiliser Removal

Its a manual process on these, as the full ECU controlled immobilser system was fitted from about 2002.

Hi Martyn

Thanks for your time and help with my 2000 Iveco 2.8.

The issue was resolved by removing the immobiliser and rewiring the stop solenoid.

I will put together some info but in case you get any other enquiries, a couple of quick points.

Removing the immobiliser is really easy with a Dremel tool, cutting disks and grinding head. Took only a few minutes.

The original power to the immobiliser can be utilised to provide power for the stop solenoid without adding a new switch/wire, and continues to work from the ignition.

Again, thanks

Cloning Service now available on Transit Body Control Modules

March 2020 – Vantuner now offers a BCM cloning service on Ford Transit MK7’s , Euro 4 & 5 from 2006.5 to 2014. Send a faulty BCM along with a cheap used one & i’ll copy over all memories , making your new BCM plug & play. Or if you have a B & need cruise control, send your B along with a C or D & i’ll copy over all thats needed & activate cruise. Additional key’s can be added also.

Turbo , Ad-Blue, DPF & P0045 DTC Faults on Euro 6 RWD Transit.

Look on your turbo’s electrical wiring loom connector & you ‘ll see 1 or more broken wires, fix them & the turbo will start working again. The adblue also. You’ll need to do a manual ( static) regen on the DPF system if the system has been at fault for more than say 50 miles. Ford have identified an issue on this connector design & copper wire quality & have released an updated part #2205233 which has a more effective exit angle from the connector. The copper used is no longer from recycled washing machines either, its now the good stuff, hand mined by Namibian child slaves. This wiring issue alone will give rise to adblue faults as the DPF function is disabled once any turbo or DPF wire is broken, , with no corresponding DTC’s

1st pic show’s the area of interest.

Temporary fix on the white wire ( soldered & heat shrinked ) while i am awaiting the upgraded part & you can see the blue & also the slate coloured one starting to fail also. Final pic is the upgraded part , which has it’s wiring exiting the connector at a right angle via a plastic leg.

& finally a long video saying exactly what i have already said here.

Emails:

Hi, I’m trying to source a wire repair harness for the Adblue system. I followed the forum chat and found a part # quoted as 2205233. Have contacted Ford parts online and await a reply. Also contacted Tomo parts but they require a tag number from the wire loom. Can’t find a tag hanging on the existing loom. Would you have a tag number for this part please?

When starting vehicle an error message pops up advising no start in 130 miles and to add Adblue. This needs the repair to remove the message but it also comes up with ‘exhaust filter blocked, service required’. Do you know a fix for this without having the van offline for a service please?

Many thanks for your site and any assistance you can offer.

All the best,
Charlotte

Vantuner replied :

Hi, that part number brings up hits on UK ebay. Once fitted ,  drive it &  you should get a message on the dash saying “drive to regen” or similar , if so drive on the motorway, 5th gear with RPM at anything  above 2500 until message clears . If you dont get a message, try deleting any fault codes, & re-try, failing that the DPF may need a static regeneration, depending on how long the turbo fault has been present , consequently how blocked the  DPF filter is.  The adblue fault should disappear automatically once DPF is happy.

Aftermarket Cruise Control Switches – Ford Transit MK7

I saw a van today for cruise activation that had the aftermarket switches fitted, which is possible by cutting out a section of the steering wheel rubberised lower section. The cruise didn’t work after activation. Customer said he had to cut away part of the plug & was then faced with 2 choices on how to plug in the connector. Had no time to check the work beyond measuring the resistance of the switch circuit. It measured 2.1Megohms, thats about 2 million Ohms more than what it should be. Pressing the various cruise buttons had no effect. I’ll update the blog if the customer get’s to the bottom of it, but for now , the previous advice still applies – get yourself a Transit wheel with buttons from a high spec transit , or choose one from a CMAX MK1 ( 2003-2007). Try Breakerlink.com if ebay yields no result on your search. & stop looking for Focus MK2 wheels, as most are incompatible, which is annoying as they look 10 times better.

2014 Connect “MK2” 75ps 1600 TDCI Tuning result.

Well here is a 1st , a 75ps Connect MK2. I have only done 95 & 115ps versions up till now but am pleased to say the 75 makes the same power as the 95, I.E 120ps. Hugely improved. 115ps models will make about 133ps, & the differences in engine hardware are the reason. I have lost my notes but Turbo & DPF are the culprits from what i recall from studying Fords’s excellent Microcat parts system when the Mk2 came out..

Christmas 2018

Well it’s Christmas again & vantuner still isn’t giving a discount, but it is easier to book as less owners are getting work done this month.  As for general news, new vehicles covered etc, there is almost none but i have worked out an easy ( cheaper) way for speed limiter removal for  late model Corsa D speed limiters, of about 2011 vintage, just before that real ugly bastard fiat doblo clone version  was released.

Updated UK MOT regulations as of May 2018

Aimed primarily at those who disable emissions control equipment like DPF system’s the new MOT reg’s  include a more thorough physical check of the DPF system, so no  just cutting a hole /hatch in the DPF filter body to remove its filter media,  you’ll need to open & weld it back along a  seam. There’s still no check on its or the  EGR systems efficiency much beyond a basic smoke check. Other MOT regs update include a lit or malfunctioning MIL lamp being a fail, & physically checking EGR is connected  & present.

Making these systems reliable is the only way to thwart the desire to delete these systems though as hugely expensive & problematic repair options continue to override the public health concerns of owners with afflicted vehicles.  We could all go electric i suppose, but  then i’d have nothing much left to tune. I couldn’t even find DRIVE on my mates Tesla last week, so bollox to actually remapping it.

2012 Transit 140 Sport – MPG & Top Speed – update after 60k.

On  recent 1500 mile run to Germany.

125mph on GPS

& 34 mpg on the on-board computer averaging 85mph

60k miles done so far on the current tune.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s are doing 18k on the front also which is pretty impressive, although it is a £200 tyre !

Power wise, its the usual maxed out tune that these Euro 5 engine’s seem to  lap up  – so circa 180ps /420nm.

Its Curtains for 125ps & 135ps TDCI MK6 Transit Tuning. ( & a few others )

Vantuner no longer tunes them, as they  are not  reliable & any tuning will add more risk to already over sensitive injection system.

One issue , on this Delphi injection system setup, is tolerance on fuel rail pressure deviation, anything over approx 60 bar from spec at full pelt (1600 bar) & you have limp mode. A standard van is kissing this limit anyway so even tuning which avoids any rail pressure increase directly will lower this margin..So they can run good apart from going into limp mode under full load intermittently.. What a load of bollocks.. The creators should be ashamed of themselves  – In ancient Greece, the word Delphi may mean “Womb”.. Clearly Fords 1st common rail offspring has a birth defect.

Problem solving in cases like this van’s relies on a tuner having access to something called a description file, an “A2L ” a ” Damos ” , These  illegally gained manufacturer’s  files identify maps  & functions & would in this case allow the rail pressure deviation tolerance data to be increased, but no such files exist ( outside of Fords Dearborn U.S.A  HQ) for  Fords of this vintage  so no go sadly.

If you need speed limiter removal , thats no problem. For EGR delete ( assuming your EGR valve is currently working ok)  just disconnect the vacuum pipe that operates the EGR. You wont get an engine light from doing this, same with fitting an EGR blanking plate. You’ll get a P0404 engine trouble code thats all, as this is a Euro 3 engine & EGR performance was not as crucial , unlike with  later Euro emissions regulations, where any EGR issue will light the MIL ( Malfunction Indicator Lamp on dash) .

Stock 110ps Transit Mk7 Euro 4 2200 have a tendency to develop a vibration at about 1690rpm on light acceleration & pushing the gas pedal & it goes, usually. It can affect any Euro 4 diesel Transit but its  rare on others . Some have fixed it by fitting a new genuine crankshaft pulley or engine mounts  but there is no foolproof repair route . Any repair or tuning that adds torque to that RPM point or corrects a loss in the case of a repair, can induce the vibration & its tricky to solve. Its a balance  / calibration error, an argument between 2 maps if you like. Not something that can be solved by someone like myself for various reasons. Here’s one  – you adjust the calibration ( mapping ) load it & its gone, 300 miles later its back. Why  ? Because some short term fuel trims via an adaptation process are reset ever time you reprogram the engine ECU so full torque, via a slight fuelling reduction isn’t available until the adaptation process completes.  As you can imagine that complicates any fix.  For this reason, vantuner no longer tunes or works on 110ps van’s.

130ps & 140ps MK7 Euro 4 Front Wheel Drive Transits, I consider the 130/140FWD fragile & unreliable. The piston crown weakness that blights the 2.2 is most prominent on the 130 , & the usual Euro 4 issues ( injector wear, hunting, egr, turbo actuator failure)  seems to affect the 130 /140FWD  more  so vantuner no longer tunes them, but will carry out other repairs like recalibration, EGR delete, software updates etc.
