BT Fleet , Openreach & various other UK utilities still seem to be auctioning off these from time to time & nearly all have a 68 or 70mph limiter, which drives new private owners nuts from what I can tell . No main dealer can remove them despite the girl on reception saying yes no problem I’ve checked with Gordon & that’ll be 100 quid please… Vantuners removal solution on these is a bit long winded & expensive, compared to many other small van solutions, but is effective nonetheless & an optional power or economy tune at little extra cost softens the blow. Model year 2008 on vans seem a little easier than earlier ones thankfully.
Sometimes the dyno surprises & this Vivaro is a good example. The van’s performance in mine & the customers opinion was transformed yet it “only” made 135ps & 311nm on a local super honest Dyno Dynamics dyno.. it ran great prior to tuning & was very well maintained so I suspect they don’t make the specified 115ps as standard.. sadly i couldn’t make the session to load the stock file for a “before “ run.. It’s an epic tune that I have worked out for these over the years nonetheless so no need to change anything…
A nice long term report came in today..

Hi Martin …long time no speak …
just thought i would let you know my van has now reached 150,000 miles
and still running perfectly ..let no one say re-mapping shortens the life of an engine ..it has never been in the garage for engine related problems since you re-mapped it at 5000 miles ..
Many thanks ..hope your keeping well ..feel free to put this on your website ..will have to change van shortly so will be in touch ..
It is like a different van totally, I can hold a higher gear down to 2000 rpm and below which was pretty much impossible before, seems much happier on CC on the motorway in 6th gear no hunting or having to change down a gear when hitting an incline. The above was the main gripe.
Acceleration is much better than before through the gears.
Can also change up gears earlier or skip gears if joining motorway Etc, but where’s the fun in that.
But a van to drive in London the above makes a difference in traffic.
Have only driven on Sunday to work in London fuel seems to be better but too early to tell for sure, trip is showing 270 miles done and 240 to empty but gauge is only just below halfway so seems like an improvement, I will report back some more when I have more miles into it, but not the reason for the remap so a bonus if it is better mpg.
Only one small minus, seems not as quick from say 70 / 80 mph to 100mph plus as the last MK7 van, but could be the fact that the gearing is so high or to do with the DPF not sure maybe you have an idea?
Not sure as only tried it once and may be in my head?
But apart from that wonderful so far so good thank you
Hi Martyn, you did my mk6 remap a couple of years ago and i just wonderd if you keep a record of dates or milage when you do these, the reason im asking is that my van has now done 195,000 and is still going like a dream , thanks to you, its brilliant. ( Bob, Caernarfon)
